Cachicamo is a work that has distilled the essence of the folk music from the eastern region of our country, the oriental plains. Rooted in the culture that comes from a completely agricultural part of the country (specifically cattle raising), this music is born in the everyday of our horse-riding eastern cowboys and farmers. Intensely polyrhythmic, with a heavy nostalgia tainted with the endless horizon of the plains in this region, you can feel horse's gallop, the nervous cattle being rounded up, and the hallucinating songs from thousands of birds. Andrea has taken this music and given it a new direction. She has brought it to a scenario where its folk instruments (harp, cuatro, maracas and bandola llanera) have been replaced with a typical jazz septet (alto and tenor saxophones, trombone, guitar, piano, double bass, and drums) and, therefore, infused it with the intense, creative, and introspective spirit of the jazz tradition. The word "fusion" gets thrown around too easily these days, but this truly brings something new to the table.

We all have a story, something to tell. Some are more fortunate to be able to compose songs and make them the best method to get out of the languid and cold nights and face with hope the new days in the sun. That is what this record is about and it was what "El Cachorro" bet him, to free himself from his torments, losses and disappointments to transform them into music. "The days of the sun" was a spontaneous, almost instinctive act of this calm and soulful puppy who decided to lock himself in his house in Sesquilé, Cundinamarca, to exorcise and decant a record of chaotic and revealing experiences. He wandered several nights in the town's canteens, patched endless evenings with the circus clown who had been installed for months, breaking the monotony of the place. Rocío Durcal, Jorge Drexler, Caifanes, Ana Gabriel, Enrique Bunbury passed through his ears. He fed his spirit with aguardiente, he got drunk without fear of a hangover with the friends he invited to record: Tino Núñez (Cinemacinco), Martinika (High Grade), José Gonzales (Toño Barrio), Andrés Jiménez (Brodubers), Andrés Correa, Dani Zabal, Andrés Zea (Bomba Estéreo), Rodrigo Estrada (Writer). In that search and desire to find their own bark, they have armed the 8 songs, or better, the micro sound stories that have a subtle but definite omnipresence and it is the field, the nature that inspires everything. Until a time when he lives in Sesquilé he joined the misfortune of the Cachorro, and generously, in the middle of the drinks, gave him a fragment of a poem written by him: "It was, like the sudden comets of jupiter without measuring word, without saying how much I love you. "From this fortuitous encounter was the instrumental piece" Sudden Comets of Jupiter ", cut 4 on the album. The puppy wanted to sing, period. I wanted to compose and so he did. He wanted to find in the songs a special way of telling oneself. He freed himself of any form or protocol, and he surrendered to the creative act, without pretensions, devoid of ideas to win a Grammy or to be a gold disc for sales; This unforeseen puppy has marked his new territory. Gone is the rancor, the absence, the loneliness. His teeth are sharp with tons of hope to bite life with fever of pain, reborn to sing, as he never had before. Welcome all to the days of the sun. From somewhere in the "Universe".
